Sunyani Technical University Gets First Ever Female SRC Vice President
07.05.2019 LISTEN

Sunyani Technical University elects Numbunaa Ezekiel together with his first ever female vice-president to steer the affairs of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC).

Osei Ameyaa Martha is a level 200 Hospitality student and vice-president to Numbunaa Ezekiel for the 2019/2020 academic year.

This will help ensure that women are represented at the highest levels of Sunyani Technical University.

As part of the widespread reforms adopted by the SRC Presidential candidature at the just ended 2019/2020 SRC elections, the administration has added minimum gender targets into it's executive’s board which aims at establishing parity at all levels in the university.

Following the results obtained by the SRC Presidential candidate will help bridge the gap between excluding feminine in the higher positions in terms of steering the affairs of the institution.

This initiative will establish a Gender Leadership Taskforce in 2019/2020 administration to work alongside the Women’s Commissioner to develop and organise important and specific programmes to ensure a robust pipeline of eligible female candidature for elections.

His Excellence Numbunaa Ezekiel revealed:

We have equal opportunities for women in competition, and we are committed to having equal opportunities for women in all our governance structures.

I have always believed that any organisation which involves women is more stronger and very effective when represented at every level.

Setting targets is important but evidence shows that targets must be supported by education and sensitive programmes that will bring more women into all areas in this our noble institution.
