Kumasi, Jan.4, GNA - The Ashanti Regional Police Administration has identified some potential causes of rape and asked parents to warn their daughters, especially students and women not to make unnecessary demands on men who court them.

The police has therefore, asked parents and guardians to caution their daughters to be aware that "free lunch" is rare these days. These were contained in a statement titled "Recipe For Rape" issued by the Ashanti Regional Police Administration signed by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Jordan Quaye who is in-charge of Public Relations Unit in Kumasi.

The statement identified most of the items women requested from those who court them and their men as mobile phones, credit to re-charge mobile phones, lunch packs, lift on their vehicles, watching blue films in the rooms of those courting them. It said other women or girls also requested phone cards, mobile phone chips, footwear, wigs, payment of hairdos, potable DVD players, table top refrigerators, requests for money and assistance to secure jobs.

The police, however, warned potential rapists that they had no justification to attempt raping any woman just because she was needy, requesting assistance or even when particularly naked. It said it was criminal to have sex with female idiots, imbeciles, mentally retarded even with their consent.
