Apam (C/R), Jan. 4, GNA - The Right Reverend James Kwesi Hackman, Bishop of the Church of the Lord has appealed to President Kufuor to inject "new blood" into his government to make it more responsive to the needs of the people.

Bishop Hackman said it had been observed that some members of the government had slackened in the discharge of their duties and that had affected the general performance of the government especially in this second term of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration. The Bishop made this observation in a sermon to usher in the New Year at Apam.

He appealed to Ghanaians to work towards the sustenance of the peace the nation was enjoying.

"Our utterances, our actions and our relationship with our neighbours should be geared towards the promotion of peace," the Bishop stated.

Rev. Hackman urged radio presenters not to allow their listeners to use phone-ins to castigate their political opponents or to use them to settle personal scores.

He urged the NPP and the NDC to tolerate each other's views to enhance democracy.

"The situation where the parties see their opponents with suspicion does not augur well for our young democracy", he added.
