Cape Coast, Dec. 28, GNA- The Cape Coast municipality did not record any road accident during the yuletide as against three recorded last year. The Regional Commander of the MTTU, Superintendent Charles Oduro, who made this known to the GNA at Cape Coast on Wednesday, attributed the situation to intensified road safety education campaign and highway patrols embarked upon by the unit. He pointed out the drivers were now more cautious and regularly maintained their vehicles and commended them for ensuring that this yuletide has been accident free.

Mr Oduro however, advised drivers to avoid drunk driving, excessive speeding, maintain their vehicles, as well as observe road signs to reduce accidents on the roads. He similarly, advised passengers to ensure that they board vehicles in good condition and at the lorry parks, instead of at roadside, and not to engage drivers in "unnecessary conversations". Mr Oduro also called on the passengers to report recalcitrant drivers to the Unit or officials of the GPRTU for the necessary action to be taken and gave the assurance that the unit would continue with its road safety campaign and road checks.
