WR RCC honours six workers

Sekondi Dec.28, GNA - The Western Regional Farmers Housing Scheme would take off next year.

Mr Joseph Boahen Aidoo, Regional Minister, announced at an end-of-year get-together for staff of the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) at Sekondi at the weekend.

He said that the government had voted 10 billion cedis towards the project, which would be implemented on pilot basis in the Aowin-Suaman, Amenfi East and the Bia Districts. Mr Aidoo said farmers would have to make an initial contribution of 15 million cedis towards the cost of the building and pay the remaining amount by instalment.

He said there were plans to construct an additional administration block for the RCC. Four junior and two senior staff of the Council were honoured for their hard work.

The junior Staff included Mr Joseph Herman Sey, a Computer Operator, who received the first prize of a double door refrigerator and Mr John Ayipala, a Chief Steward who was given a 14-inch colour television set while Mr Kwabena Darkwa, Assistant Chief Driver and Mr Nicholas Dapaah, a Messenger were presented with radio cassette players. The senior staff members were Mr Francis Acquah, Principal Executive Officer, who took the first prize of a 28-inch colour television set and Mr Abeiku Garchie, acting Protocol Officer who received a 21-inch colour television set.

The Regional Minister, Madam Sophia Horner-Sam, Deputy Regional Minister and Mr David Yaro, Regional Coordinating Director, presented the awards.
