The Most Reverend Abadamloraa Commissions Farming Project

Pusu- Namongo (UER) Dec,20, GNA- The Navrongo-Bolgatanga Catholic Diocese has started a farming project at Pusu-Namongo in the Upper East region, to train the youth in sustainable agricultural practices Commissioning the project, the Bishop of Navrongo - Bolgatanga, the Most Reverend Lucas Abadamloora, explained that the Church hoped to help curb the perennial food shortages in the area by promoting the training of young people to take up Agriculture that would yield enough food to sustain the people.

The Most Reverend Abadamloraa explained that the centre, which was built to house, the trainees, at a cost of 2.2 billion cedis comprised, 16 single beds self- contained apartment, 28-bed dormitory, and training halls with capacity of 20 people.

He added that the mechanised running water system, kitchen and dinning hall, which were also under construction, were at the verge of completion.

He announced that the Farming Project Centre would collaborate with partners such as the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, University for Development Studies, District Assemblies, and the Association of Church Development Project, among others.

The Bishop further noted that citizens from the community would be trained to take active part in the project. The Upper East Regional Minister, Mr Boniface Gambila, lauded the idea for the establishment of the farming centre, saying it was in line with the Ghana Poverty Reduction Strategy.

He urged the Talensi- Nabdam District to contribute in diverse ways to the completion of the project since it would go a long way to alleviate poverty in the district.
