Church dedicates new chapel

Wenchi (B/A), Dec. 18, GNA - The dedication of 300 million cedis new chapel building for Wenchi West District of the Church of Pentecost on Sunday climaxed a five-day annual gospel and healing crusade of the Church at Wenchi in Brong-Ahafo region.

Madam Ibrahim Bintu Farizana, Wenchi District Chief Executive (DCE) in her address commended religious bodies for their efforts in promoting moral development amongst the people and stressed the need for the church to use pulpit to campaign strongly against the spread of the HIV/AIDS pandemic.

Madam Farizana also urged the church and all religious bodies in the district to bring to light Government policies that promote development in the communities so the people would embrace the policies and contribute towards their implementation. She advised churches to encourage their people more especially the unemployed youth and women to engage in income-generating activities such as soap-making, edible oil extraction and others to enable them become self-sufficient in life and not become liabilities in the society.

Madam Farizana pleaded with people in the area to keep their environment clean to avoid contracting communicable disease. They should also try as much as possible to protect against bush-burning during the harmattan season.

Apostle Appiah Aidoo, Techiman Area Head of the Church praised the Wenchi West district of the church for their joint efforts in putting up the new chapel building and urged them to remain united and render more selfless services and contribute effectively towards the activities of the church.

Apostle Aidoo led the congregation in prayers for the political leaders of the country and for God to save the nation from motor accidents, especially during the Christmas festivities. Reverend Philip Ntim, Wenchi district pastor of the Church urged the members to remain faithful to God and also let regular prayers serve as their sword to fight against enemies.

The presiding elder of the Church Kwasi Tweneboah, advised members of the church to hold fast into Jesus Christ and follow all his teachings.

Elder Tweneboah paid special tribute to Mr. Kofi Bilson, Mr. Samuel Gyasi and Mr. Stephen Agyarko, all members of the church for donating separately millions of cedis to support the church building project.

The five-day crusade also attracted other reverend ministers, including Prophet Appiah Agyekum from Koforidua in the Eastern Region and Apostle J.B. Arthur, Area Head of Asokwa in Ashanti Region.
