Kumasi, Dec.13, GNA - A Kumasi Circuit court on Tuesday sentenced Jacob Akologo, a Neoplan bus driver on his own plea to a fine of six million cedis for overloading and placing his vehicle number plate at a wrong position. Akologo would in default serve a 16-month jail term.

Police Chief Inspector Robert K. Akoto, prosecuting told the court presided over by Mr R.M. Kogyapwah that on December 5, this year, the Police Central Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) enforcement team arrested Akologo on the Kumasi-Offinso road. He said when the vehicle was inspected, it had been overloaded with passengers and goods.

The prosecutor said the goods packed on the carrier of the vehicle exceeded the normal loading weight and height and in addition, the number plate was not placed at its right position. He said after investigations Akologo was charged with the offences.
