Accra, Dec. 9, GNA - The Osu District Police on Friday appealed to churches, civil societies, individuals to assist them with accommodation and vehicles to enhance their operations in the area. "We need these facilities in order to mobilize personnel and beef up our patrols in the area", Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) James Annor said.

He noted that Osu being one of the business centres in Accra was growing rapidly with a number of firms springing up, hence, the need to beef up security."

ASP Annor made the appeal when he received litterbins valued at five million cedis from the National Investment Bank (NIB), Osu in Accra. He pointed out that the Police Administration was making some efforts in supporting them and called on other entities to come to their aid ASP Annor said the Police was ready to maintain cleanliness at all Police barracks and Police stations saying the bins would go a long way to enhance sanitation at the station.

He said he was not happy with the sanitary conditions especially toilet facilities in his district saying: "We would be grateful if some one would help us put up a modern toilet facility for personnel." ASP Annor lauded Biney Construction firm for renovating the Osu Police Station Charge office, cells, offices of the Station Officer and Criminal Investigation Department.

He commended the NIB for responding to their request. Mrs Marian George, NIB, Branch Manager, Osu, said the donation formed part of its corporate social responsibility in ensuring a cleaner environment.

Mrs George commended the Osu District Police for its hard work and appealed to other organisations to support them.
