NDC's Elvis Afriyie Ankrah Appointed Director Of Elections

The leadership of the main opposition National Democratic Congress has appointed Hon Elvis Afriyie Ankrah who has over fifteen years of political strategy and campaign experience as its Director of Elections.

Sources close to the party leadership indicate to Ghanapoliticsonline.com that this has become necessary due to the relevant role Elvis Afriyie Ankrah played in the 2008 and 2012 elections as Deputy National Campaign Cordinator and Campaign Cordinator respectively that gave the National Democratic Congress resounding victories.

Honorable Elvis Afriyie Ankrah started his political journey as President of the Students Representatives Council of the University of Ghana between 1994 and 1996 where he achieved a remarkable legacy by the inception of Radio Universe which is still the number one campus radio for dissemination of information to students and the general public and later became Cordinating Secretary of the National Union of Ghana Students.

He was a lecturer at the Institute of Professional Studies now University for Professional Studies - Accra and headed the English and Communication Studies Department of the school.

He was elected the Deputy General Secretary in charge of operations of the NDC in 2005 whilst the party was in opposition and rose to Deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Minister for Youth and Sports and Minister of State at the Presidency respectively between 2009-2017.

He holds a Master of Arts degree in International Affairs from LECIAD.
