The decision by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration to extend the validity of the Ghanaian Passport Booklet from five (5) to Ten (10) years has been universally embraced by Ghanaians living both in home and abroad. The decision will reduce the hustle passport holders have to go through to renew their old passport after every Five (5) years. “We want to acknowledge the effort made by H.E. Mrs. Ama Gina Blay, Ghana Ambassador to Germany together with the Foreign Affairs Ministry for heeding to our clarion call for this timely intervention”.

According to Rev Alex Acheampong, Chairman of the Germany Branch of NPP, the initiative came into force mainly as a result of the Proposal the Branch officially sent to the Foreign Ministry through H.E Mrs. Ama Gina Blay; Ghana Ambassador to Germany, who saw the Proposal worthwhile and decided to pursue it. As such she painstakingly followed the Proposal through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs up to the Presidency. The approval and enforcement of the initiative demonstrates the commitment of the President, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to bring positive transformation to processes involved in acquiring travelling documentation easy and convenient for all Ghanaians home and in the Diaspora.

Rev Alex Acheampong further indicated that it is important to point out that in less than two years the Administration of H.E. Mrs. Ama Gina Blay has brought great transformation to the Ghana Embassy in Germany which has immensely reduced the hassle and bustle they used to go through in acquiring documents and notarial services. Indeed, the full introduction of Biometric system has drastically reduced the time for acquiring Passport and Birth Certificates. Ambassador Ginan Blay is also playing an overarching role in the road map to the implementation of ROPAL.

Without doubt, the less than two years of her assumption of office has inspired great sense of unity and has improved the confidence of Ghanaians living in Germany in their quest for convenience and reliable services at the consulate. The leadership of the NPP Germany Branch will continue to give our unwavering support to H.E. Mrs. Ama Gina Blay for her to keep on with the praiseworthy works she has been doing. We however believe her outfit will continue to engage the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to reduce the Visa Processing Fee for Ghanaians in Germany which was doubled during the Mahama led NDC government from 50Euros to 100Euros.

We want to urge Ghanaians to continue to support NPP government to shape Ghana’s economic future. Rev Alex reiterates that the recent rejuvenation of the Obuase Gold Mine by H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo at a cost of $280million coupled with the huge investment made to revamp the railway industry demonstrates his commitment to brighten the country’s economic fortunes. The NPP in just two years has made great strides in putting Ghana on a solid economic foot. Ghana is currently one of the fasters growing countries in the world.

He added that the bold implementation of policies such as Free SHS, NABCO, Planting for Food and Jobs, and One-District-One-Factory shows the NPP government’s readiness to create a sustainable future for all Ghanaians across the country. It is our hope as Ghanaians in the Diaspora that the good people of Ghana will continue to repose confidence in Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo and the NPP government to deliver on their promise in the 2020 general election.
