Ayawaso East Municipal Assembly Decongests Nima Streets

The Ayawaso East Municipal Assembly has begun a 3day decongestion exercise on the shoulders of the main drain off the Nima-Circle road.

The exercise which started on Monday, 21st January, 2019 together with some police personnel from Nima division headquarters, is to clear illegal structures and make-shifts along the roadside causing unnecessary traffic congestion on the Nima-Circle road.

Mr. Nii Armah Ashitey, the Municipal Coordinating Director said the exercise is supposed to take place last year December but was suspended due to the Christmas festivities.

"We have received numerous compliants from the residents of Nima about high rate of congestion on the streets. So we sent notifications and announced of about the decongestion exercise on the shoulders of the drain. We wanted to do it somewhere last year December but postponed it due to the Christmas season. Some of them have cleared theirs and some have not ", he said.

Mr. Ashitey noted that, his outfit will ensure that all abandoned vehicles parked at the shoulders of the road are clear stretching over to the Kanda-highway.

He added that, the Assembly will enforce the by-laws to deal with offenders.

Nima Divisional Commander, Supt. Abraham Acquaye added that, they are on top of their game to make sure that peace and order is maintain in the Nima community.
