WordDigest: Five Lessons From Joash's Fall
21.01.2019 LISTEN

Text: 2 Chronicles 24:1-21
The story about Joash and his uncle, Jehoiada has a lot to tell us in this edition.

Jehoiada was the priest who installed Joash as king for Jerusalem.

Jehoiada in his lifetime taught and trained Joash to live godly.

Joash was seven years old when he became king for Jerusalem.

After Jehoiada's death at age 130, Joash led a pagan life, had no fear for God and even ordered the murder of Jehoiada's son, Zechariah, whom God instructed to speak against the paganism.

As a result there was an angry cloud which hovered over Judah and Jerusalem because this sin.

So God caused towns to attack and destroy Joash's kingdom.

Some lessons we can learn from this story are;
1. Value the importance of mentorship.
2. Don't be arrogant
3. Fear God in all ways
4. Be wise in decision making
5. Do no harm to God's anointed.
To be successful in life, let's place value on humility and mentorship across every area of jurisdiction.

Be encouraged.
Prayer
Oh God, grant us a humbling spirit to serve you in Jesus' name, Amen.
