Nana Takyi Okyere III, Chief of Gomoa Odumasi in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region has expressed serious concern over lack of a single computer for the 325 pupils in the local basic school to learn ICT.

This he said was affecting academic Standard of the school and has accordingly appealed to the government through the Member of Parliament for Gomoa East Constituency and the District Assembly to assist the school with Computers.

According to Nana Takyi Okyere III, since the inception of ICT subject in Ghanaian schools, students of the Gomoa Odumasi local D/A Basic School have never touched a single computer in the school.

" Am highly disturbed that not a single computer can be found in the school for the children to have a feel of them. Teaching of ICT has become a headache for the Nananom, teachers and the entire community.

Am therefore making a passionate appeal to the Member of Parliament for Gomoa East Constituency, Hon. Kojo Asemanyi and DCE for Gomoa East District Assembly, Hon. Solomon Darko to assist the school with computers "

Nana Takyi III made this passionate appeal in a welcome address he delivered at a durbar organized by the Chiefs and People of Gomoa Odumasi to climax their annual Akwambo festival on Saturday.

He expressed the hope that help from above would redeem the students, the teachers and be a relief to Nananom in general.

"Other challenges facing us is the main road from Agona Kwanyarko through Odumasi to Kasoa. The road is in deplorable state. Drivers are refusing to ply the road compelling commuters to resort to motorbikes popularly known as ' Okada' as their means of transport.

This risky form of transportation has killed and injured many people on the stretch . We would be grateful if it is reshaped for smooth transportation of goods and services.

Gomoa Odumasi is fast developing but the problem is public toilet facilities. Even though there are individual household toilets, they are not enough to cater for the entire community. We once again appeal to the Assembly to support us in that direction.

Still on education, my humble appeal is teacher's quarters. Many teachers are refusing postings because of lack of accommodation thus affecting teaching and learning "

Nana Takyi Okyere III praised coexistence that has existed between Christians, Muslims, traditional believers and the various ethnic groups in the vicinity praying for sustainability of the unity.

He encouraged Gomoa Odumasi citizens both home and away, churches philanthropist, NGOs, civil society groups and individuals to support the community in its development agenda.

Nana Takyi Okyere III concluded by appealing for financial support for peasant farmers in the area to expand their farms and for petty traders to expand their buy and sell Businesses.

The Queen Mother of Gomoa Odumasi, Nana Ekua Munkua II urged parents to invest in their children's education adding that would facilitate poverty eradication.

She charged girls of school going age to stick to their books avoid early sex which leads to teenage pregnancy and school drop-out.

The Member Parliament for Gomoa East ,Hon. Kojo Asemanyi lauded the people for their sense of unity. He assured them that the newly created Gomoa East District Assembly would spearhead development in the area.

He pledged to lobby for set of computers for the school adding the children ought to acquire knowledge in computer skills.

DCE for Gomoa East, Hon. Solomon Darko Quarm hinted that a 16-seater modern toilet facility was going to be constructed for Gomoa Odumasi community to boost Sanitation and to enhance personal hygiene.

He also announced that plans were also far advanced for reshaping of roads in the district including that which link Gomoa Odumasi to other communities.

The durbar was chaired by the Chief of Gomoa Adzentam, Nana Essel Andoh.
