Notice To Mr. President...Car Snatching And Murders In Tema
16.01.2019 LISTEN

The levels of insecurity in the country, and in particular, the Tema Region is heightening and the earlier the government take steps to stern and allay the fears of the citizenry, the better. There have been too many robberies, car snatching incidence, and murders which appear to be contract killing in Tema, in recent times.

The murder of the head of Marketing and Public Relations of Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) has further aggravated the fears of the people living in Tema and its environs. The level of fear and panic is quite alarming.

Mr President, the survival of every nation is largely, dependent on its security situation. Indeed, research available has indicated that, development of every nation is effectively linked to the security of that nation. It is in this light, that, I urge your government to take security of the nation very serious and, as your topmost priority.

I realized government and her spokes persons, over the past few months have rationalized their failure in other critical sectors with the introduction of FSHS. I pray same or similar anemic defense will not be ignominiously apply as we point to the huge, but jerry-built security set up of your administration.

I do not intend to recount the security flaws from the start of your administration. The recent car snatching, and the murder of the Head of Marketing and Public Relation of GPHA, is grave enough to look at your security setup again.

Mr President, you came to Unilever Ghana Ltd in Tema to commisssion three of their factory plant; and you could not use the opportunity to assure the people of Tema and share in the grieve of the workers of GPHA. The head of security of Tema, who is also your appointee is also tightlipped about the matter. Rather, you were on your usual magniloquence, and touting economic successes and, the fiscal ability of your government. I do not want to believe, Mr President, that you are oblivious of the fact that embedded in economic stability is security stability. Please make security of the nation your priority.

Mr President, your government announced a decision to make use CCTV cameras across the country. What happened to that promise??? Or you chose drones over CCTV cameras which, you claimed it will help reduce crime in the country.

Mr President, please we want echt assurance backed by weapons-grade measures to allay our fears. I have to come your way, on the basis of your request on 7th January,2017 in your plagiarized inaugural speech.

Citizen, I remain.

Sincerely,

SEIDU, Abdulai

Constituency Secretary,

Tema East.
