The Amoamanhene, Nana Agyenim Boateng, a representative of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has sternly warned politicians not to politicize the development of Kumasi. He stated that politicians in Kumasi should put the interest of the city ahead of their various political parties.

Nana Agyenim Boateng, in an interview with Nhyira Fm, said Kumasi-based politicians in the past were interested in the growth of the city and that contributed to the tremendous development in the city.

He, therefore, stressed the need for politicians in the city to work together to develop the city at all times.

Nana Agyenim Boateng is the representative of Otumfuo on the committee that is ensuring the re-development of Kejetia.

Ashanti Regional National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman, Andrews Nana Akwasi, threatened to organize demonstration against the Kejetia project.

He accused the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) of delaying the re-opening of the Kejetia Project, saying “if they fail to open it in two weeks' time, we shall hit the streets.”

Nana Agyenim Boateng, who is the chairman of the Kejetia Validation Committee, said the intended action of the NDC, led by the NDC Chairman, is wrong.

“All the processes that are needed to ensure the smooth re-opening of Kejetia are being followed so I am surprised about the NDC chairman’s threat. This is a project that is dear to the heart of Otumfuo and all the necessary processes are being followed strictly to ensure its success.

“The Kejetia traders have been validated and other issues are also being addressed so the facility would be opened to the public soon,” the chief said.

Nana Agyenim Boateng stressed that there is no need for the NDC to demonstrate against the project due to political reasons.
