A fisherman, aged 28, has sustained severe decrees of injuries after a woman allegedly poured hot water on his body while he was deep asleep at night at Salakope, a coastal village near Denu in the Ketu South Municipality.
This followed a misunderstanding between the victim and the suspect earlier that morning of the day, the cause of which still remains unclear.
The victim, Buernortey Puplampu, a settler fisherman from Ada in the Greater Accra Region, is currently on admission at the Ketu South Municipal Hospital at Aflao, receiving treatment.
The suspect, named only as Koenya, a housewife, 40, after initial detention, is now on police inquiry bail, assisting the Agavedzi police with investigations.
A female relative of the victim told the Ghana News Agency that about 7:30 am on January 2, the victim visited his colleague fisherman, also at Salakope, but met only the suspect, his friend's wife.
She said out of nothing, the suspect picked a quarrel with the victim over why he was looking for her husband until they were separated.
The source said Koenya, at about 11:pm the same day, boiled water and raced to the victim's house, which was about 200 meters away with it.
The suspect found the victim lying prostrate, deep asleep on a mat on his compound and poured the hot water on him.
The source said the victim's wild screams aroused the attention of neighbours, who saw the suspect running away with a bowl in hand.
A source close to the Agavedzi police, said the suspect will soon be put before court.
A source close to the Hospital said Puplampu is responding to treatment despite the severity of the burns he suffered.
