Education Gomoa Afransi To Present Community SHS To Government

The Chiefs and people of Gomoa Afransi in the Gomoa Central District of the Central Region have celebrated their annual Akwambo festival pledging to hand over the local Community Day Senior High School to Ministry for Education to boost intake of Students for the Free SHS in the vicinity.

This was announced by the Chief of Gomoa Afransi, Ogyedom Obranu Kwesi Attah VI.

According to the Chief, the Free SHS policy has come as a relief to parents who hinder to found it extremely difficult to send their children to Senior High Schools especially in Gomoa Afransi and its environment.

" Plans are far advanced for handing over the Ogyedom Community Day Senior High School to government to offer more students opportunity to go SHS not only in Afransi but its surrounding communities.

We took this decision to support government's Free SHS policy which has been well embraced.

Senior High School has become the key for development. We in Gomoa Afransi would do everything within our means to ensure that the Free SHS policy succeed.

Education is the only legacy we can leave for our children. Long before the Free SHS, Afransi Nananom had established education endowment fund which had supported numerous brilliant but needy students to further their education.

The Free SHS has therefore become a God sent policy for us.

We Thank His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana for his foresight. We have fully embraced it"

Ogyedom Obranu Kwesi Attah VI encouraged the government to create more employment opportunities for teeming unemployed youth in the area to enable them contribute their quota towards national development.

He further appeal to government to provide the community with a Health Centre to enable them access Health Care delivery.

Member of Parliament for Assin Central Constituency, Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong commended the people for embarking on self-help projects to improve the economic lives of the people.

He pledged his support towards early completion of the laudable projects.

Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong donated Ghc 30,000 to the community's self-help projects.

The Central Regional Minister, Hon. Kwamina Duncan affirmed that Ankamu-Dawurampong-Afransi road would be constructed and tarred as captured in the 2019 budget to enhance smooth transportation of goods and services.

He praised the Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Hon. Naana Eyiah Quansah for her cordial relationship with her constituents.

The National Chairman of NPP, Mr. Freddie Wosemewu Blay assured the people of massive improvement of infrastructure for Gomoa Gyaman Community Day Senior High and Ogyeedom Community Day Senior High Schools respectively in the coming years.

He pledged Ghc10,000 towards the self -help projects in Gomoa Afransi.

He noted thatGovernment will rekindle Chieftaincy institution to up-bring moral values in the Society thus inculcating discipline among the citizenry.

Minister for Gender,Children and Social Protection Honourable Mrs. Cynthia Morrison who represented the President stressed the need for parents to invest in their children's education.

" Education is not politics so as Parents we should not be influence by anyone to say that the Free SHS is a bad policy which is not suitable for our students"

.She appealed to nananom and and all stakeholders to help hunt for youth with various talents and to develop them.

Hon. Mrs. Cynthia Morrison who is also Member of Parliament for Agona West Constituency encouraged the people to engage themselves in Planting for Food and Job policy in order to improve their economic lives and to create jobs opportunity for a lot of people in the vicinity.

She hinted that loan facilities through MASLOC is to be rolled to support women expand their economic activities.

Present were Minister of State in-charge of Tertiary Education, Prof. Kwesi Yankah, Central Regional Chairman of the NPP, Mr. Robert Kutin, MP for Gomoa Central Hon. Naana Eyiah Quansah and MP for Gomoa West Hon. Alexander Abban

Also Present were DCE for Gomoa Central, Hon. Benjamin Kojo Otoo and Gomoa Central NPP constituency Chairman, Alhaji Omar Adam.
