When I read the Ghanaian papers, I can clearly see that no matter how a section of the Ghanaian population likes you, there are also millions who don't like you and your family. Don't forget that the mouth which said "Here comes the Messiah, Hosannah! Hosannah! Was the same mouth which said crucify him.

Mr. Rawlings, it seems your favour and admiration in Ghanaian politics have declined and as a former head of state or the founder of the NDC party, if one starts experiencing such antagonism in your country, in some ways, it's cautioning or warning you to be careful or to retire completely from Ghanaian politics.

I know how difficult it is to watch things not going the right way without doing anything about it but in my opinion, your time has passed and at the moment, there is no role you can play to put Ghana on the right track if you are not happy about the current political atmosphere in Ghana.

The insults circulating in the media against you and your family are too much. As a former head of state, there are things you need to put into consideration to decide to quit politics. Your family should be your priority.

There is bitterness in the heart of many Ghanaians due to what happened when you were in power. For example, I have taken an excerpt from the book, "The Writer Died," just to remind you how things went very bad for Ghanaians and some families, yet you seem interested still in Ghanaian politics.

Within a relatively short period, the military took over in Ghana the economy started declining. After Rawlings unsuccessful coup in May 1979, which sent him behind bars, his case was still pending when a group of junior soldiers made a counter-coup on June 4, 1979. They broke into the jail and released him.

Ghana in the hands of John Jerry Rawlings, a young soldier, became bitter to former leaders of the country. Indeed, as many as eight army officers, including three head of states, were accused of corruption and, when found guilty, they were executed.

To transform Ghana and get rid of the evil malpractices in what he termed as ―cleaning exercise, Rawlings Armed Forces Revolutionary Council used revolutionary methods against tax evaders and within a short period had recovered millions of cedis, the national currency for the country.

He was named ―Junior Jesus, but later when Ghanaians realized his selfish ambitions which had brought suffering to the masses, he was tagged, ―Junior Judas. Rawlings applied ruthless methods by confiscating assets and properties.

Stores were forcefully broken into, and hoarded goods sold to the general public. After carrying out this mission, he handed over the scroll of office to Dr. Hilla Limann, which paved the way for Ghana to have a civilian rule in the Third Republic. One mistake which Rawlings' administration did, was not filling the empty shops before handing over power.

In this case, Limann inherited a very bad economy. This caused the downfall of Hilla Limann. The economy of Ghana from then on never improved. No flour for bread, no soap to wash or to bath. Not even a common toilet roll was available to the people.

Ghanaians queued long hours for every commodity under the scorching sun, and those who couldn‘t cope with the economic situation gave a public outcry. Many businesses collapsed. People had money, but couldn't buy any commodities. An epoch of hunger, poverty, and discomfort followed.

Despite all these events, which were caused by Rawlings‘ administration, he greedily seized power again under the Provincial National Defence Council. He who came with the idea of saving Ghanaians had now tasted the sweet side of power and corruption. He decided to form a democratic party to continue ruling Ghana.

Ghanaians weren‘t surprised when his National Democratic Congress Party won the elections. As a matter of fact, Rawlings‘ second coming wasn‘t necessary. He accused eight generals of corruption and had them killed. He made the children of those he executed fatherless and made their wives widows. However, what kind of significant change can Ghanaians boast of during or after Rawlings' tenure?

Conclusion
I am just a writer, sharing my opinion. Everyone's opinion differs, thus; as a former head of state, the decision to quit or dwell in this disrespectful and abusive Ghanaian politics is in your own hands.
