NDC Should Keep Its Wicked and Regressive Counsel to Itself
In its New Year Message for 2019, the leaders of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) claimed that 2018 was full of challenges because the Akufo-Addo-led ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) adamantly refused to heed the good counsel of the double-salary-drawing robber-barons of the democratically deposed John Dramani Mahama-led regime of the National Democratic Congress (See “Akufo-Addo’s Gov’t Does Not Listen to Good Counsel – NDC” Modernghana.com 1/5/19). According to the newly elected National Chairman of the NDC, Mr. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, his faux-socialist Cash-and-Carry healthcare peddlers of Social Darwinism, the irredeemably brutal State-of-Nature ideology of the “Survival-of-the-Fittest,” is ready to restore Ghanaians to the path of growth and prosperity with a united team.
The fact of the matter is that about the only theme or project around which the kleptocratic leaders of the NDC are united is the massive production of unemployment, the creation of massive and unprecedented levels of functional illiteracy and the wanton looting of monetary and other capital resources that ought to have been invested in the Akufo-Addo-implemented fee-free Senior High School access for all our able-bodied and talented youths. This pretty much explains why the NDC leaders fiercely opposed the fee-free SHS policy initiative and even their longest-serving parliamentarian, Mr. Alban SK Bagbin vowed to seek a court’s injunction to scuttle this most progressive intellectual and cultural development program. This is the sort of advice that the NDC hopes to apply to the affairs of the Ghanaian electorate and citizenry at large, in the highly unlikely event of them being ceded the reins of governance come 2020.
This is what the NDC leaders mean when they talk about prosperity and national development. Under the “Dumsor” tenure of Mr. John Mahama, for example, the NDC effectively destroyed the Kufuor-implemented National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) and rendered the National Health Insurance Card (NHIC) virtually useless to healthcare providers; so it is rather laughable that these political scumbags and scam-artists would have Ghanaian citizens and voters afford them a second undeserved chance to irreparably destroy the yeomanly work that President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his appointees have done in this critical sector of our national economy and quality of living standards. This is the sort of political cronyism and nepotism that these fascists are talking about and also claim to virulently detest.
Now, let these carpetbaggers and con-artists tell our eligible voters and the nation at large precisely what good counsel can come out of the minds and mouths of leaders who imported some 200 broken-down minivans from Germany – of all places – in the name of the rejuvenation of our National Ambulance Service? If anything at all, Ghanaians ought to commend the Akufo-Addo-led NPP government for not following the NDC-fangled Ponzi Scheme that was the Zylofon and Menzgold group of companies and the criminal bankrupting of the nation’s indigenous banking system. You see, the NDC is about everything but the steady progress and development of Ghana. One only has to look at the party’s track-record in order to arrive at the damnable conclusion that Ghana is in dire need of a far more progressive opposition party. The NDC is a veritable party of charlatans who believe that the most effective method of promoting national cohesion and unity, as well as security, is by stifling the free-speech rights of its political and ideological opponents.
Is it any wonder, therefore, that the leaders of the New Patriotic Party rather prefer to work hand-in-glove with the grassroots leadership of Civil Society Organizations, than getting themselves dirty and wastefully bogged down by a bunch of extortioners and thugs whose sole objective is scheming their way to power, by hook or crook, and then looting and sharing the hard-earned wealth of the Ghanaian taxpayer with certified con-artists and robber-barons like themselves?
