Two Persons Remanded For Robbing Lawyer

An Accra Circuit Court has remanded two persons into police custody for allegedly conspiring to commit crime and robbing a lawyer and another of their phones, cash and personal belongings. Raymond Duodu, unemployed and William Henkel, Game Operator pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector, Victor Dosoo, told the court presided over by Mr Aboagye Tandoh, said on January 4, 2019 at about 0200 hours, the complainants and witnesses in the case were asleep in their house at Madina, when the accused persons armed with cutlass and other offensive weapons broke into their rooms and held them hostage.

He said they tied the Lawyer's mouth with a cloth to prevent her from screaming and threatened to harm them if they raise any alarm.

The prosecution said the accused persons succeeded in robbing the complainants of cash sums of GH¢6,710.00 and $110, five mobile phones, one lap top computer, one 51 inches Samsung Television set, a black ladies bag containing documents and a driver's license.

Chief Inspector Dosoo said the first complainant's iPhone, which was in possession of the accused persons, was tracked to James Town in Accra leading to the arrest of the suspects.

He said when the accused were searched all the items earlier mentioned were retrieved.

The Prosecution said during investigations the accused persons led the police to Madina, where the Samsung TV set was also retrieved from a blue kiosk and a big screw driver used by the accused persons and also parts of the burglar proof they broke at the scene were also retrieved.

The Court later directed the prosecution to file its witness statements and documents they would be relying on at the trial.

The case has been adjourned to January 23.
