Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako Attah, has said he is impressed with the rate at which contractors working on the 6 footbridges along the Madina – Adenta highway are progressing with work.

He said he is certain that the project will be completed on schedule .

The Minister, who assured Ghanaians of the footbridges being completed as expected made the remarks after a tour of the various project sites with some journalists.

“I am happy, and I am sure you are all happy with the progress of work. I'm, assuring the people of Ghana that these footbridges will be completed on time,” he said.

The contractors have said they will complete the project in April 2019 .

Justmoh Construction, one of the six contractors working on the footbridges during a visit by President Akufo-Addo in December 2018 said they were assiduously working to complete the project on time.

“We have done some road markings, we have also done some crash barriers here, we are also doing some civil works at the SDA junction to make sure that the turning is okay. We are also doing pavements on some islands. There is a different contractor for each of the bridges. We hope to finish all these works by April,” he said.

Following the rampant spate of accidents on the highway, resulting in the loss of lives and a massive residents' protest that turned violent, the Ministry of Roads and Highways, acting through the Ghana Highway Authority, selected six contractors to construct footbridges and ramps on the road.

The contractors are Fekams Co. Ltd., Highbrains Construction Co. Ltd., Joshob Construction Co. Ltd., First Sky Ltd., Justmoh Construction Limited and Core Construction.

The project is worth GH¢ 5 million.
