An Accra Circuit Court has granted a GH¢92,000.00 bail with two sureties to a sales rep for appropriating GH¢90,500.00 belonging to the State Insurance Company (SIC).

One of the sureties should be a public servant earning not less than GH¢1,000.00.

Judith Yankson denied stealing the money and she will make her next appearance on January 16.

Police Chief Inspector Francis Tassan told the Court presided over by Mr Emmanuel Essandoh that Mr Albert Asampong, the Prosecution Witness, is the Makola branch manager of Sika Plan Section of SIC in Accra.

He said Judith was also a sales representative of the Company tasked with the collection of daily contributions from the policy holders at the various markets in Accra.

The prosecution said as part of her duties Judith was to make entries of monies collected from contributors in their respective passbooks and sent duplicates of the entries in addition to the monies collected to the Company's accounts office for record keeping.

Chief Inspector Tassan said between August 2017 and October 2018, the accused person with the intent to commit crime recorded the actual contributions by clients on their receipts and passbooks but paid lesser amounts to the accounts office.

He said she then kept the rest of the money to herself.

The prosecution said this was the case until an audit was conducted and it was detected Judith had stolen GH¢90,500.00 from the contributions of ten clients.

Police Chief Inspector Tassan said a report was subsequently made to the Police leading to the arrest of Judith where she confessed committing the crime.

The Prosecution said the accused person had since refunded GH¢22,000.00 and after further investigations, she was processed before court.
