Three Assembly Members in the Krowor Municipal Assembly have been granted bail by an Accra District Court after they were being accused of destroying billboards within the municipality.

This was after they pleaded not guilty to the charges of conspiracy to cause unlawful damage and causing damage.

The three are Alfred Afortey, Lawrence Nii Bortey Borquaye and Robert Oko.

The billboards were erected as demarcation for the two newly created municipalities of Ledzokuku and Krowor which was formerly known as Ledzokuku, Krowor Municipal Assembly aka LEKMA.

A team of lawyers led by Mr Godwin Tamakloe and Paul Asibi Abarigah took turns to pray for bail for the accused persons.

Mr Tamakloe held that accused persons were Assembly Members and since the September 2, last year when the incident happened have been living in the community and that efforts were being made to settle the matter amicably.

Mr Abarigah indicated that the accused persons had fixed places of abode and they will not abscond when granted bail by the court.

The three were picked up on January 8, this year over alleged destruction of billboards situated at Brigade Junction.

The estimated cost of damage to the billboards at the time was GH 5,780 cedis.
