Mr. Joseph Miigal, a 40-year-old staff of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has been shot and killed by armed robbers in the Northern Region.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the regional police command, DSP Yussif Tanko, said the deceased was killed on 1 January 2019.

He told Class91.3FM's Northern regional correspondent, Mohammed Gadafi that the robbers ambushed Mr Miigal and three of his colleagues on a highway and killed him, leaving the others unhurt.

He explained that before the attack, several vehicles had used the same route but the assailants blocked the road only when they realised that Mr Miigal and his colleagues were approaching with two vehicles.

DSP Tanko disclosed that an amount of GHS 50,000 was taken from the deceased.

“He was shot twice; one in the armpit and the other around the lower back”, DSP Tanko said, adding that the police command is on the tails of the robbers.
