Politically Naked Ofosu-Ampofo Needs Psychiatric Examination

Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, the National Chairman of NDCSamuel Ofosu-Ampofo, the National Chairman of NDC

Under the gross mis-governance of the Mahama-led regime of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the Kufuor-implemented and funded National Health insurance Scheme (NHIS) effectively ground to a screeching halt. It has taken the unprecedently progressive leadership and good governance of President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to make our healthcare system functional and up and running again. And so it is quite clear that Mr. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, the National Chairman of the nation’s main opposition National Democratic Congress does not appreciate even half of what he is talking about, when the former Eastern Regional Minister – if memory serves me accurately – says that he wishes good health and prosperity to Ghanaian citizens in the year 2019 (See “Be Hopeful; We’ll Rescue You from NPP’s Hardship – NDC to Ghanaians” CitiNewsRoom.com / Ghanaweb.com 1/1/19).

It is pure and simple as day and night; and it is that politicians who promote the Social Darwinian healthcare policy of Cash-and-Carry or Pay-Upfront-or-Perish cannot care about the promotion of the good health and a sound quality of the lives of ordinary Ghanaian citizens. It is also criminal and scandalous for the former Local Government Minister to be talking about the leadership of the National Democratic Congress as one that has been galvanized by “a renewed sense of patriotism, selflessness, discipline and commitment towards the attainment of our national aspirations.” You see, when NDC leaders like Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo talk about “our national aspirations,” they are unmistakably referring to the prime opportunity to wantonly loot the fiscal resources of the Ghanaian taxpayer and “coolly” divvying up the same with their card-carrying party cronies and associates, in pretty much the same manner that some of the Mahama-appointed cabinet ministers illegally drew home double salaries throughout the four-and-half years that their “fabulously generous” benefactor held the reins of governance, while the long-established Teacher and Nurse-Trainees’ Allowances were rudely and callously withdrawn on grounds of insufficient funds for other more significant national development projects and programs.

You see, you cannot talk about “patriotism” and “selflessness,” when the megalomaniacal leader of your own party and possible Election 2020 Presidential Candidate is threatening to “review” the unprecedently auspicious fee-free Senior High School Policy Initiative, which has been resoundingly endorsed by nearly every leader in the West African sub-region and the key operatives of the ECOWAS Commission and, I believe, the African Commission as well. Then also, what with the commercially and industrially regressive Mahama signature policy of “Dumsor,” or the erratic power supply, that saw at least one-third of both medium- and small-scale businesses in the country effectively grind to a screeching halt? Back then, Mr. Mahama blamed the victims of such gross administrative incompetence for not being creative and inventive enough to devise a means of appropriating his “Dumsor” initiative to maximum productive effect.

Well, there is good news here: and it is that Ghanaians have increasingly become much too smart and self-protectively progressive enough to recognize fraudulent and charlatanic politicians for what the overwhelming majority of NDC leaders and party apparatchiks like Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo have breathtakingly exposed themselves to be. Let absolutely no Ghanaian citizen and/or eligible voter be deceived by these faux-social democrats’ empty talk of “patriotism” and “selflessness.” We might just as well – each and every one of us eligible Ghanaian citizens and voters – line up behind Mr. Alfred Agbesi Woyome and massively cast our ballots for the latter mega-thief come December 2020. Nothing could be more criminal than this lurid exhibition of insufferable arrogance on the part of the leadership of the National Democratic Congress, which makes even coldly calculating political scam-artists like former President John Dramani Mahama believe themselves to have been preordained by God, Allah, or Divine Providence, to rule Ghana until the end of the world or Judgment Day, or whichever comes first.

And, boy, isn’t it laughable for the very people who selfishly refused to open access to our Senior High Schools to the overwhelming majority of our children and grandchildren to be so facilely – to speak much less about downright foolishness – promising to rescue the rest of us from the purported hardship callously and incompetently imposed on Ghanaian citizens by the Akufo-Addo-led government of the New Patriotic Party? Did we go, or did we come?
