Residents Of Gomoa Kweikrom Call For ICT Lab, Library
05.01.2019 LISTEN

Gomoa Kweikrom residents in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region are appealing to government and other donor partners to help the community build an ICT lab, a library, a teachers’ quarters and a decent toilet facility since the community lacks all these basic necessities.

“Since the community has no teachers’ quarters, teachers who are posted to Kweikrom to teach are forced to stay in the near by village and commute everyday to Kweikrom to teach,” a situation a resident described as worrying.

Speaking to Citi News during the launch of the annual Akwambo festival, Secretary to the planning committee of the festival, Daniel Kofi Agyeman, indicated that the community is lacking these basic necessities which makes living in the community difficult.

“It is difficult to live in a community without these basic things,” he explained

According to him, this year’s Akwambo festival would be used to generate monies to help build these structures, adding that they need the support of government and other donor partners.

“We call on all Kweikrom natives from Ghana and beyond to come and support this worthy course,” he noted.

According to Daniel Kofi Agyaman, the lack of a portable toilet facility in the area makes it difficult for residents living there since they are forced to use other alternative means to attend to nature’s call.

“And we all know the implications of defecating around, it has the tendency to bring about an outbreak” the secretary to the planning committee noted.
