Western North Executives Are Grateful To You For Honoring Another Campaign Promise

We the executives of the various constituencies wish to extend our profound gratitude to His Excellency the president of the Republic of Ghana for the creation of the Western North Region. It is clear to us that, the leadership of Nana Akufo Addo's government isnt only a lip service government but rather, a government that sees the need in urgently responding to the plights of the good people of Ghana. It is also an indisputable fact that Article 5 of the 1992 constitution wouldn't have been triggered had it not been a pledge by Nana Akufo Addo to create Western North Region during the 2016 electioneering campaign.

In this regard, we want to also use this opportunity to thank all stakeholders and civil society organisation who sacrificed their time and supported the constitutional processes in getting us our new Region. We cannot downplay the sacrifices of Nananom and Western North secretariat, WENDA, NUSSA, SUASA concerning their wonderful contribution in this whole exercise. Again the Regional Minister, MP's, MMDCEs, Assembly members, Government appointees and party executives within the various constituencies in the Western North and other party functionaries not forgetting the strategic role the ministry of Reorganisation and Development led by Dan Botwe, the media house and all information centres and the entire Region cannot also be left out in this appreciation.

The quest to have our own Region started since time immemorial and history can be traced back to the days of Dr Abrefia Busia of blessed memory as a result of blatant neglect of people within the Western North Region in the sharing of the national cake. We cannot also forget the difficulties our people go through in accessing the Regional capital and the likes.

We are indeed happy today that, another campaign promise which is going to ensure our fair share of the National cake has been fulfilled by this government. The underlying concepts of creating a Region as a mean to decentralise the powers of government stems from two broad perspectives and they are, (a) extension of social and economic improvement to the doorsteps of the people(b) fair share of the National cake.

We are also very much aware of the associated benefits of the creation of a Region occasion on the principles of substantial demand. The last territory of this Region is Sefwi Adobokrom along the borders of Togo. To access the Regional capital, one has to spend twelve good hours in transit. All these and many others which were captured in the commission's report are going to be solved now that we have our own Region.

If any government has the good people of Western North at heart, then certainly it is the NPP government led by His Excellency, Nana Akufo Addo. We are not contending that the creation of this region is going to tackle all our problems but atleast some major ones would be solved for the meantime. The putting up of Regional administrative officers are going to give our people sustainable jobs.

On this note, we say "Ayikoo" to this government for seeing the need in responding to the good people of Western North.
