DEC 31, 2018 LISTEN

The Voiceless Media bus stopped at the Zabzugu constituency last week and the impression we gathered is that the NPP in the constituency will want Hon John Bennam Jabaah to contest unopposed in the Zabzugu constituency come 2020.

It must be indicated that, Hon Bennam previously represented the Zabzugu constituency on two terms in 2008 and 2012.

In 2008, he secured 17,983 to beat Mr Thomas Berepong Laten of the NDC who had 11,329 votes.

Hon John Bennam Jabaah retained the seat for the NPP in 2012. He polled 13,300 votes to beat the NDC Candidate who was Hon Alhassan Umar whp pulled 12,213 votes.

In the 2016 election, Hon Bennam was beaten by Hon Alhassan Umar narrowly to snatch the Zabzugu seat from Hon Bennam who is widely respected in the Zabzugu area. Alhasan Umar of the NDC had 13,591 votes and Hon Bennam had 13,434 votes. The NPP was heavily tipped to win the seat for 3 consecutive terms but some internal challenges around the Korli area denied the NPP of the seat.

As talks about the next NPP primaries is hinted for early next year, talks about who contests which constituency has become topical within the local levels.

Hon John Bennam is said to have an excellent relationship with all the stakeholders of the NPP in the constituency and also seen to.be one who is humble, approchable and development oriented and is said to have helped the constituents and the constituency in landmark ways.

With the open show of love and likeness for the candidature of Hon Bennam for the Zabzugu constituency, it is projected that the NPP wil recapture the seat from the NDC come 2020.
