Nana Okoawia Jumo Baabu II, Koforidua Effiduae Hene and Nifa Hene for New Juaben Traditional Area has urged authorities of the New Juaben South Municipality to bequeath the Cemetery and any other properties they deem belonging to the newly carved New Juaben North Municipality to help boost its revenue mobilization.

He explained that when one gives birth to a child, there is the need to set the child up to enable him/her to the find its feet.

“The cemetery, for instance, is on Effiduase land, they could bequeath that to us so that both North and South can move forward” He said.

Nana Baabu II advised residents of the Municipality, which has Effiduase as its capital, to work hard and do their part in assisting the government to bring development to the area instead of sitting aloof and expecting the government to do everything.

This request was contained in his new Christmas and New Year message to the people of Effiduase while being interviewed by a GBC Sunrise FM correspondent.

In her response to concerns raised by the Effiduase Hene, the MCE for New Juaben North, Hon. Comfort Asante said she shares Nana’s sentiments, but was quick to add that despite the separation, the North and the South are traditionally, the same. She said the Regional Minister, the Local Government Ministry, the Member of Parliament and other stakeholders are still in the process of putting things in order. She, therefore, believes that in due course, properties that are supposed to belong to the North will be handed over, to aide its development.

Madam Comfort Asante, called for unity and understanding among all residents.
