Kintampo SHS needs special attention - Kintampo South PM

The Presiding Member for the Kintampo South District Assembly of the Brong Ahafo Region, Wiafe Akenten, is calling for a special attention to change the face of

Kintampo Senior High School into a befitting state-of-the-art Senior High School.

He made the call when he presented ICT items on behalf of Glimpse of Hope, a US based non-profitable making organisation to the school last Wednesday at a short ceremony.

Mr Wiafe observed that, the Kintampo SHS has been the only government senior high school in the municipality since 1971 but has little to show in terms of infrastructural development.

"This school was established in the year 1971, even though, a lot of transformation has occurred to bring it this far, the school still needs special attention to give it a facelift", he said.

"I am confident the President Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo will do his best uplift the face of this by making it one of the model schools"

According to him, the Glimpse of Hope headed by Mr Kwabena Takyi Ekuban, a native of Kintampo but resident in the United States, is committed in making the school's ICT learning Center a standard one and therefore, urge the school to take good care of the items and use them for the intended purposes.

The items include; two 50-inches flat screen Hisense TV sets, 50 pieces of Find Optical Dell Computers with accessories. The organization has already donated 14 lab-top computers, a projector, and cameras for photography club, and some laboratory equipment for the science lab to the school in the previous years and sponsored free vision screening for the staff and students of the school.

Receiving the items on behalf of the school, the headmaster, Mr Frank Yeboah disclosed that, auditors have already queried the school's ICT Center for its poor nature and of the view that the donation to the center is timely and ceased the occasion to thank the president of Glimpse of Hope, Mr Kwabena Takyi Ekuban and his family.

He assured them that, the items will be put into good use and also asked all others to emulate the good examples of the philanthropists.

The school has so far successfully implemented the double track system under the Free Senior High School policy with its little infrastructure and it is envisaged that with a little attention it will hit higher heights.

The school runs both boarding and day systems as a mixed school with a student population of over 2,400.

The only challenge the school faces now as results of increase in population is the lack of proper place of convenience. ([email protected])
