Ghanaian Politicians have been asked to put the common good at the heart of the thinking and everything they do.

Mr. Alexander Hagan, Technical Service Director and Chief Executive Officer of OKTAG, said they should overcome greed and selfishness.

The practice where people entered into politics with the overriding ambition to making money - enrich themselves at the expense of the people should not continue.

He was speaking when the Cape Coast Development Youth Association called at his residence to present to him a citation in honour of his support for youth development.

It read in part 'Your contributions are deemed invaluable and worthy of mention. We thank you sincerely and may God bless you.'

Mr. Hagan donated student mattresses and an unspecified amount of money to reward students who excelled in a quiz competition jointly organised by the Ghana Library Board and the Association during the Fetu Afehye celebration.

He underlined the need for all to accept to play their expected roles well as citizens to bring development.

It was time they discontinued with the politicization of every national issue and combined their effort to achieve accelerated socio-economic progress.

Mr Hagan said the much-desired economic and social transformation could only be realized if the citizenry fully supported every project or programme geared towards making things better for everybody, regardless of which political party was in power.

He noted Cape Coast needed a radical shake-up to turn its wheel of development and urged the Metropolitan Assembly to do more to attract investors.

'The city needs more industries to absorb the unemployed youth' he added.

Mr. Stephen Doffoe Forson, Organiser of the Association, said it was non-political and only interested in the development and welfare of the youth.
