Youre Not Chief Of Kokrobite -Nii Arde Nkpa Family Tells Self-Styled Chief
11.12.2018 LISTEN

Details are emerging over plans by the Nii Arde Nkpa family to install a legitimate Chief for the people of Kokrobite.

Although no official names have so far been dropped, a deep throat source within the family insists that at the right time the rightful chief will be outdoored for all to see.

According to the source, within the Nii Arde Nkpa family the kingmakers have selected one Ebenezer Nii Arde Tackie, the only grandson of the late chief who carries his full name as the rightful person to the Kokrobite stool but has not yet been made public because certain traditional and customary rights are yet to be performed to be installed as chief.

The source claimed that there have been some tensions between the chosen person as well as his immediate family and the kingmakers since the name came up as the rightful chief particularly when the said Ebenezer is widely said not to be interested in taking up the chieftaincy position, a position the kingmakers are not willing to accept.

In the view of the kingmakers, once he has been selected, he cannot refuse it is not in line with the Ga tradition and custom.

This paper gathered that the person chosen to be chief is currently not in the country for fear of his life due to the tensions as a result of his refusal to occupy the chieftaincy position.

Meanwhile, the Dzasetse of the Nii Arde Nkpa family, Nii Ansah Sasaraku III, has said in an interview that the family is aware of people who have not been traditionally and customarily installed holding themselves as chiefs and that plans were underway to install the rightful chief to man the traditional and chieftaincy affairs in the area.

Since the death of the chief of Kokrobite and Plerno, Nii Arde Nkpa IV, known in private life as Ebenezer Nii Arde Tackie, there has been series of chieftaincy disputes in the area as who is the rightful claimant to the stool.

His son Victor Tackie was reportedly installed chief as Nii Arde Nkpa VII but was destooled by the kingmakers for offences inimical to the beliefs and custom of the traditional area.

This development has left the people of Kokrobite and Plerno without a legitimate chief which is affecting the development of the area as a result of bloody clashes from factions who hold themselves as chiefs in the area.

Head of Nii Arde Nkpa family, Daniel Nii Arde Nkpa Tagoe, in an interview with journalists on June, 19, this year is quoted as having stated that Nii Offei III who parades himself as chief of Kokrobite is not recognized and has not been traditionally and customarily installed as the chief of Kokrobite., although Nii Ofei III still holds himself as chief of Kokrobite
