Islamic University College Admits 350 Students

The Islamic University College, Ghana (IUCG) has offered admission to 350 students to pursue various degree and diploma courses.

The students are made up of 160 females and 190 males - representing 41 per cent and 59 per cent respectively.

The students will be pursuing programmes in Communication, Business Administration, Religious Studies and the newly introduced diploma and degree courses in Early Childhood Education.

One hundred and seventy-five (175) of those admitted will be reading Business Administration, Communication Studies, 120; and Religious Studies, 30; while 25 will study Education and Psychology.

These were disclosed during the school's 20th Matriculation ceremony on Saturday.

Dr. Mohsen Maarefi, the President of the University, who presided over the ceremony, in his welcome address, challenged freshmen to have faith and knowledge to achieve the ultimate goal of academic success and project the good brand of the University College during their stay.

He advised the matriculants to 'pay attention while seeking knowledge and have faith while acquiring it.'

'We need knowledge and faith to provide our services to the nation and to humanity at large,' the President added.

Dr. Seyyed Muradi, a Senior Lecturer at the Al Mustapha International University, who was the special guest of honour, encouraged the students to exhibit maturity by learning hard to make their parents proud and not make their toil be in vein.

'It is very important to acquire faith and be useful to your family and the society', he said.

Dr. Gamel Nasser Adam, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, in a brief statement welcomed the freshmen to the 2018 matriculation ceremony.

He cautioned the students to be of good behaviour and to make good use of technological innovation and skills in achieving their aims.

The Vice President administered the matriculation oath to officially induct the matriculants as junior members of the IUCG community.

Ms Fatimatu Suleman, a representative of the 2018/2019 fresh students, spoke about their expectations of University life.

She expressed joy and fulfilment for gaining admission into the Islamic University College.

She took the opportunity to congratulate her colleagues on the official induction as students of the University College.

She also advised her colleagues to be conscious at all times of the fact that they had come this far to pursue various programmes in order to contribute to society and also to maximize their potentials and hence must not be distracted by anything.
