Prez Akufo-Addo Departs Ghana For Japan On 3 Day Visit

President for the Republic of Ghana His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has today departed Ghana for Japan on a three (3) day official visit upon invitation from the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzō Abe.

The purpose of the visit according to Minister for Information Kojo Oppong Nkrumah is to deepen an already strong relationship that exist between the West African Country and the Asian country. It is also to provide an avenue to explore other areas for further cooperation that will be mutually beneficial for the two countries.

Kojo Oppong Nkrumah whiles reiteration the President’s visit at a press briefing this evening observed that he will also use the opportunity to make efforts to attract more Japanese businesses to come on board to support his one district one factory (1D1F) vision.

“President Akufo Addo’s visit to Japan which starts on Monday the 10th of December is expected to further deepen Ghana-Japan trade ties which has been strong in recent years. The President as was announced today will arrive in Japan on Monday for a three day official visit.

“The bulk of his meetings apart from the diplomatic meetings will focus on the industrial giants of Japan in an effort to strengthen trade relations and deepen efforts at attracting more Japanese FDI and knowledge transfer to Ghana

“The President will also specifically be at the Joint Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC)/ Japan External Trade Organization business seminar (JETRO) business seminar to make a strong case for Japan and Japanese businesses to situate in Ghana under the 1D1F program”, the Information Minister indicated.

He additionally stated that His Excellency Nana Addo’s recent international visits has yielded fruits and the government is hoping that track record will continue after this particular visit to Asia.

“In recent months the President’s international visits have yielded dividends for Ghanaian businesses in the Ghanaian economy including the recent announcement of auto mobile companies that are to set up in Ghana in 2019. It is our expectation that this visit as well will yield further dividends for the Ghanaian business community”, Oppong Nkrumah said.
