New World Boxing Organization (WBO) super bantamweight champion Emmanuel Navarrete has disclosed that the secrete to his victory over Ghanaian boxer Isaac Dogbe is his hard work and numerous sacrifices he had to make in preparing for the bout.

The Mexican beat his opponent Isaac Dogbe to win the world title last night. After 12 rounds of fiercely contested bout, the challenger Navarrete was declared the winner by unanimous decision after he outpunched and outpointed Dogbe at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden. The judges on the night scored the fight 116-112, 116-112, 115-113, all in favour of the Mexican.

Speaking in a post-bout interview the boxer said, “You know what? Hearing those words (Being announced as winner) was the combination of the dream, the combination of all that hard work that I put in the gym. All those days that I had to be away from my family. Everything that I sacrificed to be here tonight.

Navarrete further disclosed that he gives credit to Isaac Dogbe who gave him a good run for his money. According to him, the pedigree of Dogbe urged on him to be at his best on the night to ensure he came out on top at the end of the 12 rounds.

“But I have to give credit and thanks to Isaac Dogbe because I knew it would be a tough fight and I will have to be at my best to be able to come away with the win”, Navarrete said.

He continued, “I hurt my hand early on in about round 2. My right hand was hurting but at that point it was not about boxing anymore. It was about my heart. It was about believing in God and going through and finding a way to come away with the victory tonight because I came into this ring to be a champion”.

Meanwhile, Isaac Dogbe has hinted that he will fancy a rematch to get a shot at taking back his world title.
