Considering the critical roles played by traditional authorities in the development of the country, the Chiefs and people of the Bawku Traditional area have renewed their commitment to supporting economic policies of the Akufo-Addo government.

According to the chiefs, they support all socio-economic interventions being undertaken by the government which are meant to promote the socio-economic lives of the people in the area.

Policies such as the planting for food and jobs, free senior high school education, one Village one Dam among others are pragmatic policies that can enhance personal development, as they will directly benefit the people, they said.

They made the pledge during a courtesy call by Madam Paulina Patience Abayage, the Upper East Regional Minister, to Naba Abugragoe Asigri Azoka II , Paramount Chief of the Bawku Traditional Area, to formally introduce herself after her assumption of office as the new Regional Minister.

Naba Azoka who was with his Sub-Chiefs and elders, told the Minister that the people needed programmes that would bring wealth to their communities and urged government to put in measures that would sustain the policies.

He reminded government to continue the works on the Bolgatanga-Bawku- Pulmakum road, which was very important in the socio- economic development of the area.

Naba Azoka said plans were far advanced to end the unfortunate infamous Bawku conflict which had affected the image of the area, as the inter-ethnic peace committee was working hard to get the two feuding parties to smoke the peace pipe.

Madam Abayage on her part assured the Chief and the people of government's commitment to continue implementing policies that would focus on the development of the people.

She said the rearing for food and jobs policy had been added to the policies with over 100,000 cattle and ruminants being secured to be given out to farmers to begin the policy.

Madam Abayage called on the people of the Region to unite and work in the interest of the entire area to create a safe and enabling environment for the unborn generation.
