ASEPA CONDEMNS THE REVERSAL OF E.C LOGO-CONSIDERING LEGAL ACTION AGAINST E.C BOSS

ASEPA has noted with great concern the decision of the Electoral Commission to reverse the Logo and other key features of the commission to its original state after huge resources have been spent to rebrand the commission only a few years ago.

We believe the decision is not only petty, inconsiderate but also an unnecessary indulgence in extreme governance politicking that would ultimately have a serious effect on the reputation of the Commission.

There are reasons why institutions such as the E.C is insultaed from political interference and actions such as this that has political undertones has the propensity to undermine the intergrity and independence of the Commission.

We out rightly condemn this decision and we call on the Electoral Commissioner Ms.Jean Mensa to truncate this unecessary intended changes or face legal action for not only causing financial loss to the State but also for altering an independent Commission without the requisite stakeholder consultation that must preceed such actions.

It is our hope that the commission lives up to expectations and avoid dragging itself in needless controversies that would ultimately affect the efficiency of the Commission.

We all know what would happen if the E.C losses its integrity and we cannot afford to let that happen!
