The nominations will be assessed by a five member committee of well-known individuals from the public and private sectors with expertise in anti-corruption.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Executive Director of GII, Mrs. Linda Ofori-Kwafo said the civil Society Integrity Awards recognizes institutions that uphold their personal and professional integrity and have undertaken initiatives aimed at reducing corruption in Ghana.

She indicated that while recipients of the awards would be expected to be of exemplary character, the awards will recognize in particular, actions or initiatives implemented by individuals and organisations which project the highest standard of integrity.

She noted that such initiatives could, for example, be a change in people's lives, a change in institutional processes and policies or an example of standing up to take action against corruption.

“Ideally this change can be illustrated by quantifiable results that further the anti-corruption cause people. The positive change should be one likely to attract interest and emulation by others. The impact should be outstanding and deserving wide national recognition,” Mrs. Ofori-Kwafo intimated.

According to her, the awards focuses on public institution or department that has undertaken an exemplary initiative to reduce corruption in public procurement.

She added that the Integrity Awards may be conferred on an organization and its staff discharging official or professional services promoting the highest standards of integrity, transparency and accountability.

Mrs. Ofori-Kwafo stressed that the annual awards will also recognized the diverse work of individuals and organizations in the Public, Private Sectors, Civil Society and the media.
