As part of activities marking the end of year, troops of Headquarters Central Command and their families have donated pints of blood to stock the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) Blood Bank on Friday, 30 November 2018.
The gesture is part of the Command’s social responsibility in ensuring there is always a good stock of blood at the Blood Bank for emergency health conditions.
Personnel were screened for various health conditions and cleared of sicknesses before they were made to donate blood.
The team leader, Mr. Benjamin Arhin of KATH blood bank in an interview with AFNEWS said the hospital was appreciative of the gesture by personnel. He urged people to emulate the contribution of the soldiers and donate to the blood bank without having to wait till their relatives need blood.
As the saying goes, “cleanliness is next to Godliness” and this guided troops in embarking on a Clean-up Exercise in and around the barracks prior to the blood donation. The clean –up took the of form of clearing the environment of plastic waste, filth and weeds in addition to the desilting of choked gutters.
