Ghana Hosts Scottish Trade Delegation

Ghana is playing host to a business delegation from Scotland comprising representatives of 21 Scottish companies.

They have expertise in the oil and gas industries and are here to explorre trade partnerships with their Ghanaian counterparts.

The Scottish Development International (SDI) is the international economic development arm which provides a range of services to companies and helps develop overseas businesses.

The 21-member delegation from Scotland would interact with Ghanaian local business counterparts in the oil and gas sector.

Ghana was the first African country to host Scottish Development International in June 2014.

The SDI Trade mission delegation is made up of Aberdeen Drilling School, Alba Gaskets Appaloosa Hydraulics, Aquatic Engineering and Construction, ASET International Oil and Gas Training Academy, Centrifuges Un-Limited, Control Valve Solutions, EnerMech Mechanical Engineering Services, Fearnley Proctor UK, Fletcher Group, Edinburgh Business School – Heriot-Watt University, Hydrasun, JAB Recruitment, OES Asset Integrity Management, Peprime, Tendeka, Titan Tools Services, TRAC Oil and Gas, UTEC Survey, University of the West of Scotland and XL Group.

In a welcome address, the British High Commissioner to Ghana, Iain Walker charged the Scottish delegation to partner Ghanaian local companies to bring development and improve bilateral relations between the two countries.

The leader of the trade mission to Ghana Cameron Douglas said, “Scotland is a hub of oil and gas with the depth breadth and strength of experience, it has a strong history of bringing successful trade delegation to Ghana.”

Some members of the delegation expressed joy, saying “Ghana is a conducive place for trade and would attract a lot of businesses.”
