A pro-NPP group that claimed to offer security services to the party are protesting the lack of jobs.

The group, which is made up of young people, Guts And Zeal Association (GAZA) living in Ho in the Volta Region say they are disappointed in the leadership of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).

They accused the party of not fulfilling promises made them during the 2016 general elections.

The youth in a meeting held with the Volta Regional Police Commander, DCOP Ebenezer Francis Doku, indicated that they (GAZA) have been with the party since 2007 as a grassroots security group.

They also said they used their resources to campaign for the party.

Seidu Ademu Magish, the Chairman of GAZA, said their contribution towards the party’s victory in the 2016 election was aimed at getting jobs in return when the party comes to power, but the party has not been able to grant them the job.

“Two years down the line about 120 members of this group none of them has been given a job, I want to tell the NPP that Gaza has been with them since 2007/2008, we have worked with them in opposition. We did all sorts of work for them, we continued working with them till 2016 when the party won power, they gave us lot of promises but after we won power nobody is listening to us, we’ve been to the minister, the MCE and the regional executives , we have taken our grievances to them but all they keep telling us us to hold on” he said.

He added that GAZA is not the only group facing the unemployment in the country; however, President Nana Akufo Addo must reorganize his appointees to address the employment problem.

Seidu Ademu Magish said he will advise the group on what to do should the authorities fail to address their grievances in the shortest possible time.

Speaking on behalf of the party, Robert Teeth-Fio Adjase, a National Security Personnel, who said he was once a president of the National Disappointed Youth Association charged government appointees to listen to the youth to ensure that party’s victory in the upcoming 2020 elections.

“I’m not attacking anybody but after winning power we were so much aggressive for political appointment and all of a sudden we forgot about the party Npp so I’m sending this clear message to our party that those that help them to climbed the tree we should turn around to loom after them because they are the same people that us” he said.

Meanwhile, DCOP Ebenezer Francis Doku speaking on security issues in the municipality urged the group to be law abiding.

He said “I know you have so many grievances one against your party, two against some personalities but in all that you do your consideration should be on Ghana first, if you destroy this vehicle what is the cost of the destruction to the nation.”

DCOP Francis Doku said they should not undertake any activity that will disturb the long-lasting peace in the municipality.

He said he will make sure the Police service will work with them closely to hunt down wrongdoers within the municipality.
