Learner driver in court for stabbing two persons

Asamankese, Nov. 4, GNA - Alex Sakyi Mensah, a mechanic had the shock of his life, when in trying to intervene in a fight, he was stabbed twice.

Another person, Ebenezer Asare Addo, who observed the fight was also stabbed as he was about to leave the scene.

The alleged attacker of the two, Samuel Yaw Addo, a learner driver who lived at Darkuman in Accra, had been arraigned before the Asamankese Circuit Court charged with intentionally and unlawfully causing harm. He pleaded guilty and was remanded until November 10 for sentence.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Joseph Idan told the court that the two complainants and the accused attended a funeral at Sukron Canaan, near Mepom in the West Akyem District on October 9. He said at about 21:00 hours Addo was engaged in a fight with someone, with the two complainants around.

He said Ebenezer Addo, tried to separate them but Samuel Addo stabbed him on his left shoulder and lower lip with a knife, saying Mensah was also stabbed at the back by the accused when he bent down to pick his slippers to leave the scene.

After inflicting the injuries on the two, Samuel Addo took to his heels and went into hiding while the injured Mensah was sent to the St. Dominic's Hospital, Akwatia and Ebenezer Addo to the Nsawam Government Hospital.

In the course of investigations, the accused was arrested at his Adeiso hideout on October 11 and taken to the Police Station.
