Nkawie-Panin (Ash), Oct 29, GNA - Nana Kusi Amankwa-Marfo, chief of Nkawie-Panin in the Atwima-Nwabiagya district of Ashanti, has cautioned settler farmers in the town to stop polluting the 'Twowaa' and 'Bono' streams in the town with palm oil residue.

He accused a group under one Mallam Salifu saying they have been polluting the two streams with palm oil residue after milling palm fruits at a place called "Plot So".

Nana Amankwa-Marfo said due to the activities of the millers, the streams were so polluted that they had become stagnant and could not flow, thereby becoming unusable. "I have advised them to relocate to Sibukrom but they have refused to heed my advice," he said.

Following this development, Mr Joe Kofi Adu, Atwima-Nwabiagya District Co-ordinator of the National Disaster management Organisation (NADMO), has visited the area and suggested to the millers to dispose of the oil residue in trenches to prevent an environmental hazard in the town.
