Tarkwa (W/R), Oct. 28, GNA - The Sekondi-Takoradi branch of Tarkwa Secondary School (Tarsco) old students association has presented 50 benches valued at eight million cedis to the school at Tarkwa. Presenting the items, Mrs. Nelly Ampiah, its chairman, said the presentation formed part of activities the association had planned for its Alma Mater.

Mrs. Ampiah, who is also a board member of the school, said the association would renovate the boys' dormitory, which is currently in a poor state, to stop it from further deterioration. She said the association would also build a fence wall around the school to ensure adequate security of the staff and students. The chairman said the association had plans to set up a scholarship scheme for needy but brilliant students to enable them continue their education.

She advised the students to study hard in order to become useful citizens in future.

The headmaster of the school, Mr. Moses Ackah, thanked the old students for the donation and called on others to assist the school in any area they could.

He said the population of the school had increased, thereby putting pressure on existing facilities. Mr. Ackah appealed for the completion of the girls' dormitory block, which he said, was started long ago.
