Mr. Alexander Frimpong, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asante-Akim South, has urged parents to complement government's efforts in making education accessible to every Ghanaian child.

He said they could do this by taking keen interest in the education of their wards and adequately provide their educational needs as government takes steps to improve on access and quality.

The MCE who was addressing the chiefs and people of Breku during the commissioning of a three-unit classroom block, said it was unacceptable for some parents to spend lavishly on funerals and clothing instead of prioritizing their children's educational needs.

The GH¢ 237,000.00 classroom block built for the Breku M/A Junior High School comes with a library, an office, a store room and a staff common room.

Mr. Frimpong said government would continue to invest in educational infrastructure and encouraged parents not to hesitate to commit more of their resources to the education of their children.

He said the implementation of the free senior high school policy demonstrated government's commitment to make education accessible to all, stressing the need for all stakeholders to support the initiative.

He admonished members of the community to own the building and ensure its maintenance, saying that it was a public property which must be protected.

Mrs. Evelyn Karina Benewoe, the Municipal Education Director called for cooperation between the community and authorities of the school in order to brainstorm about the development of the school.

She applauded the Assembly for the construction of the block, adding it would improve academic work as the existing structure in a deplorable condition.

Nana Kwao Nsempa Benefo, Chief of the community praised the Assembly for addressing one of the major problems facing the community and charged the parents to invest in the education of the children.
