The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) last Tuesday received cash donations from two organizations in support of this year's GJA awards ceremony slated for October 27 at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel in Accra.

An upcoming hospitality project in the Upper West Region, Royal Cosy Hills, and Ashfoam Ghana Ltd yesterday met management of the GJA at the Accra International Press Centre to make the presentation.

Mr Michael Klugey, Project Manager of Royal Cosy Hills Hotel, popularly called 'Jirapa Dubai', who made a cash donation of GH¢100,000 showed appreciation for the immense role played by journalists.

He said that the Royal Cosy Hills Hotel, as a hospitality facility, encompasses a safari, ecotourism, with over 120-bed-capacity rooms including executive rooms for high profile personalities.

Marketing Communications Manager of Ashfoam Ghana Ltd Nana Yaw Ampem-Darko, who donated an amount of GH¢30,000, said Ashfoam appreciates the work of journalists especially in serving as a vehicle to promote the brand through their media platforms.

“Our management which believes in the commendable efforts exerted by journalists decided to support the Association every year on a major project like the awards ceremony to motivate all journalists to contribute their best to national development”, he said.

He revealed that Ashfoam had allocated special rewards including sofa and mattresses for journalists who emerge winners under the following categories: Journalist of the Year; Promising Female Reporter; Best Rural Reporter; and the Komla Dumor Award.

Mrs. Linda Asante Agyei, Vice President of GJA, expressed the gratitude of GJA to the two companies for their efforts towards encouraging journalists in executing their duties effectively.

She assured them that “the relationship will be cemented, sealed, and made solid” adding “we appreciate your efforts and say a very big thank you for your gestures.”
