Accra, Oct. 24, GNA - The Alpha and Omega Care, a US-based non-governmental organisation (NGO), supported by the New Hope International Church on Monday presented medical equipment worth 60,000 dollars to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and the 37 Military Hospital. The equipment, which included inflatable face masks, oxygen bags, bandages and medical gloves were to support quality and affordable health care for children.

Presenting the items, The Reverend Gloria-Blessed Nunoo, Director of the Organisation, said it was part of their social responsibility to ensure better lives for all, especially women and children that were more vulnerable.

She explained that the organisation, last year made donations of clothing and food items totalling about 300,000 dollars, to the Tema General Hospital, Korle-Bu, Police and 37 Military Hospitals. The organisation also brought in a team of health professionals that offered free medical services to patients at the same hospitals. "We also support the payment of school fees for needy but brilliant students and offer marriage and general counselling services for women during our annual visits and hope to increase these donations to about twice or thrice a year," she said.

Mrs Adriana Nunoowa Koomson, Principal Nursing Officer, Department of Child Health, Korle-Bu, called on others to emulate them. She urged mothers to adhere to the instructions given them during their ante-natal and post-natal clinics to help to cut down on the number of Out-Patient cases resulting from improper feeding of children.
