Two On Remand For Car Snatching

A Ho circuit court has remanded Harrison Ganyo, a driver, and Gaffaru Ezetu, a mechanic, into prison custody for allegedly snatching a car belonging to one Emmanuel Nyanuvor, a taxi driver.

The two pleaded guilty and are scheduled to come back to court on October 11.

Police Inspector Agnes Ahiable told the court presided over Madam Pricilla Dikro that in June 2018, the accused persons planned to rob a driver of his vehicle and contacted one Jerome Titriku, a blacksmith based at Adaklu Ahunda, for a locally made pistol.

She said on 28 July, 2018, the accused persons armed with the pistol travelled to Accra ostensibly to rob.

Inspector Ahiable said while at Atomic Junction, the accused persons engaged the services of the complainant to take them with his vehicle, a Hyundai i10 to Ho, through the Sogakope- Adidome road.

She said around 1530 hours at a section of the road near Adaklu Hehekpe, Ganyo shot the complainant in the right arm, threw him of out of the vehicle and drove it off together with his two mobile phones worth GH¢ 350.00 and cash amount of GH¢ 200.00.

Inspector Ahiable said a witness in the case came to the aid of the complainant and took him to the Volta Regional Hospital for treatment.

She said the accused persons in their flight, crashed the vehicle at Adaklu Tsrefe while negotiating a sharp curve, abandoned the vehicle and took to their heels.

Inspector Ahiable said on July 29, 2018, at about 0200 hours, police at Adaklu- Waya upon a tipoff picked Ganyo at a hideout whiles Ezetu was also arrested by the youth of Adaklu-Wumenu and handed over to the police.
