Caring Kids International donates books to schools

Kumasi, Oct 22, GNA - The Caring Kids International, an NGO, has donated some reading books, chalks and other materials worth 10 million cedis to four basic schools in the Kumasi metropolis. The schools are the Bantama Methodist Primary and JSS, Akosa MA Primary School at North Suntreso and the Ohwim MA Primary and JSS. Nana Akosua Frimponmaa, the Founder and Executive Director of the organization, said the objective of the organization was to inculcate the habit of reading into school children.

She said the organization, established six years ago, had made several donations to schools in the country as its contribution to the promotion of education.

The Executive Director, who is also the Dwantoahemaa of the Dormaa Traditional Area, said the organization had established "excellence clubs" in schools to motivate pupils and students to learn hard. She said there were plans to give incentive packages to teachers. Madam Cecilia Abenaa Dapaah, the Deputy Minister of Works and Housing and also Member of Parliamanet (MP) for Bantama, urged parents and guardians to encourage children, especially the girl-child, to attend school to enable them become responsible citizens in the future. Mr Fred E Y Agyei, the Headmaster of the Bantama Methodist JSS, on behalf of the beneficiary schools, thanked the organization for the gift. The Deputy Minister later donated 50 bags of cement to the Bantama Methodist Primary and JSS as well as desks, teachers' tables and chairs to the Ohwim MA primary and JSS.
